Lakeshore CAP 0.5K

Manitowoc, WI

Join us for the Lakeshore CAP 0.5K, "Race for the Rest of Us'" and experience the glory of participating in one of those events that you've only dreamed about. Well, probably not, but maybe thought about, for a minute.

ABOUT THE, UM, RACE
This, um, race may be the most grueling of your life.  This tongue-in-cheek event is geared to the classic underachiever, who wants to participate in an, um, athletic competition and train for it by sleeping in late, eating donuts and drinking beer.  You’ll receive a swag bag with a smug oval magnet for your car, a one-of-a-kind event t-shirt, a participation medal, because we celebrate ALL abilities and underachievers, and bragging rights for participating in the punishing 546.8 yard/1640 feet event.  You'll be paced by athletes with exceptional abilities to get you to the finish line in record speed. And, you’ll be raising money for a local cause!  Join us for the grueling, um, race or the party afterwards.  Food, beer and music will be available after the, um, race. Spectators can purchase a ticket for the after-party separately. Bring some cash for raffles along the way. We'll try to separate you from as much of your cash as we can. This is a FUNDRAISER after all.

START/FINISH
The race will start at the Lincoln Park Field House and end at Cabin 1, which is up a treacherous hill that will leave your legs burning and your lungs on fire. There will be themed rest stations along the way and enthusiastic supporters to cheer you to the finish line. First Aid will be provided by spectators who may or may not have adequate training or a retired nurse, if my mom is willing.

PARKING
Parking will be around the park and on the surrounding streets. Roads will be closed in the park as well. Consider this your warm-up.

PACKET PICK-UP
Packet Pick-Up will be prior to the event. No need to get out of bed early for this, um, race because it doesn't start until 4pm. We'll see you at 3:00 to pick up your swag bag. Look for the volunteers or a table or tent or something, your stuff will be there. We haven't quite figured that part out yet.

This idea was “borrowed” from a city in Texas called Boerne, who were very successful in raising money for a local charity that provides food for children and their Blessings in a Backpack program.  We thank them for their snarky wit and hope they feel that imitation is a genuine form of flattery.

The Lakeshore CAP 0.5K will benefit a local non-profit, Lakeshore CAP.  Please check out our web site:  www.lakeshorecap.org.

THANK YOU!
